Heading for Tignes, at the far end of the Tarentaise? Your driver meets you at Lyon Airport and takes you to your residence by the lake or in Val Claret. The price is agreed on quote before departure.
Tignes is one of the resorts furthest from Lyon. You drive the whole Tarentaise: A43, A430, then the N90 to Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
Then 30 km remain. The D902 passes Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise and runs along the Chevril lake, held back by the Tignes dam. After the dam, the D87a climbs to the Tignes lake, at 2,100 m.
From November to March, winter tyres or chains are compulsory in the mountain areas of Savoie. Our vehicles carry the right equipment.
You pass Albertville, Moûtiers and Bourg-Saint-Maurice. On holiday Saturdays the day can be long, so leave with a margin.
With an evening flight you arrive late. The driver still drops you outside your accommodation.
The price covers the whole vehicle. Up to 4 passengers in a sedan, up to 7 in a van with skis.
The whole Tarentaise valley, to its very end, then the climb to the lake.

The driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a tablet. They take care of bags and skis. All you have to do is sit back.
Your flight number tells the driver the real landing time.
The driver stays. You pay no surcharge for the delay.
Baby seat or booster to request when booking.
Tignes is made up of several districts and villages. Give the name of your residence and the driver takes you there.
The heart of the resort, by the lake, at about 2,100 m.
A district next to Tignes le Lac, with plenty of residences.
Further on, at the far end of the plateau, below the Grande Motte glacier.
Lower down on the road. Les Brévières is at about 1,550 m. Say so: you arrive before the final climb.
The nearest station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice, at the end of the Tarentaise line. The taxi meets you there, or at Lyon Part-Dieu.
Bourg-Saint-Maurice station: 30 km to Tignes le Lac, about 40 to 50 minutes.
Lyon Part-Dieu station: 232 km, about 3h15 to 3h45.
The old village of Tignes lies at the bottom of the Chevril lake. It was flooded in 1952 when the dam was filled. The dam, about 180 m high, was inaugurated in 1953.
Today's resort was built higher up, around the Tignes lake at 2,100 m. When the Chevril lake is drained, about every ten years, the remains of the old village reappear.
Tignes shares its ski area with Val d'Isère. Staying there? See the Lyon Airport → Val d'Isère taxi.
This is one of the longest returns to Lyon. Add the drive, a buffer and 2 hours at the airport:
For an early morning flight, the taxi leaves at night, at whatever time you need.
Possible, but from the airport you have to chain several connections. With a family and skis, it makes for a long day.
Three hours of driving, the last part in high mountains, often in the dark in winter.
You rest while the driver drives. The price is fixed before you leave, for the whole vehicle.
For Tignes, Geneva is closer: 181 km, about 2h45, against 220 km from Lyon. If you can choose your flight, Geneva saves some driving.
