The route follows the A40 motorway to Cluses. It then takes the D106, which climbs in hairpins through Arâches and Les Carroz to the Col de la Pierre Carrée, at 1,844 metres. From there the road drops down into the Flaine bowl.
Allow 1h30 in normal conditions. On Saturdays from January to March, the climb after Cluses gets busy: plan for up to 2h10. From 1 November to 31 March, French mountain law requires winter tyres or chains on board in Haute-Savoie. Our vehicles are equipped.
Flaine was designed by Marcel Breuer, a former Bauhaus master. It has held France's Twentieth-Century Heritage label since 2008. The Hôtel Le Flaine and the Bételgeuse building have been listed historic monuments since 1991.

Expect a transfer time of 1h30 for a Geneva to Flaine transfer. On a winter Saturday, it can take 2h10. The motorway to Cluses is the easy part. The time varies on the mountain section above Les Carroz, which is slow by nature and busy on changeover days. After fresh snow, fitting chains adds a few minutes, and our drivers handle it.
The nearest station is Cluses, on the Arve valley line. From there, a seasonal express bus climbs to Les Carroz and Flaine on a fixed timetable. Seasonal coaches from the airport also exist. Both leave you at a bus stop in a car-free resort. A private transfer brings you to the car park closest to your residence, with no stops and a departure set by your flight.
For Flaine to Geneva airport, plan to be at the terminal two hours before your flight. On a weekday, leave about 3h30 before take-off. On a Saturday, leave 4h10 before, as the road down through Les Carroz gets busy. Pick-up is at the foot of your residence in Forum, Forêt or Front de Neige.
