The route follows the A40 to the Sallanches exit, then the D1212 which climbs onto the Combloux plateau in about ten minutes. The village sits on a balcony at 1,000 metres directly facing the Mont Blanc massif — the view that earned it Victor Hugo's description as the pearl of the Alps.
Allow 1h15 in normal conditions, most of it on motorway. On Saturdays from January to March the Sallanches exit builds up around midday: plan for 1h40. The plateau sits at 1,000 metres and faces south, so the climb stays passable all season.
Combloux has always aimed at families rather than prestige. Child seats and boosters are provided free on request when you book, and our vans are sized for pushchairs and children's equipment.
Combloux is linked into Evasion Mont-Blanc, shared with Megève, Saint-Gervais and La Giettaz. You ski the same 400 kilometres of pistes for accommodation that is usually far cheaper.
Winter tyres compliant with the French Loi Montagne II from 1 November to 31 March, chains carried and fitted at no extra cost. The D1212 is short but can need chains after fresh snow.

The transfer time for a Geneva to Combloux transfer is about 1h15 for 87 km. On a busy winter Saturday, allow 1h40. Three things set the pace: the queue at the border on the way out of the airport, the volume of traffic on the A40 towards the Arve valley, and the last few kilometres up from the valley floor. The slope is gentle, so snow rarely adds much time.
Without a car, the Léman Express regional train links Geneva to Sallanches-Combloux-Megève station. Combloux is then a short bus or taxi ride up the hill. Shared shuttles group several resorts and run to fixed times. A private transfer skips the change at Sallanches. It takes your family from the arrivals hall straight to the chalet door, with buggies and skis loaded once.
For Combloux to Geneva airport, aim to reach the terminal two hours before take-off. On a weekday, leave the village about 3h15 before your flight. On a Saturday in high season, leave 3h45 before. A little further west, above Sallanches, Cordon also looks straight at Mont Blanc. It is reached directly from Sallanches, hence a slightly lower price.
The commune spreads between the valley and Combloux. It is the quickest drive, as it skips almost all of the climb.

Combloux has no station. The nearest one is even called Sallanches-Combloux-Megève, at the foot of the plateau. From Geneva, the Léman Express runs there.
